III Research Seminar AJICR «Arts and Religions”
April 12th, 13th and 14th, 2023 | Valencia
Semi-presential mode
CALL FOR PAPERS
The concept of Art has been rethought on numerous occasions based on the dialectic between the sacred and the profane, the modern and the ancient. These definitions have been used by various authors to establish theoretical approaches from which to analyze artistic manifestations in various cultures, both ancient and modern.
Among the consequences of the secularization of modern Art, we find a kind of rupture and confrontation between the concepts of the sacred and the profane in Art. It is highly relevant that we continue to deepen this relationship from Academia to enrich the plethora of meanings associated with both concepts.
With an academic-scientific approach, in this third edition of the Research Seminar “Arts and Religions” of the Association of Young Researchers in Sciences of Religion (AJICR), we want to focus on the link between the sacred and the profane from a perspective that is not only multidisciplinary but also interdisciplinary and transversal.
Likewise, the title “Rethinking spaces in Art” is intended to reflect and discuss certain themes, aspects, approaches, and proposals of the artistic and religious phenomenon which are not always the object of research in traditional studies of Religious Sciences. In order to achieve this objective, the program has been divided into 5 panels:
- Dichotomic spaces
- Colour spaces
- Conflict spaces
- Word spaces
- Invisible spaces (including Gender Studies)
This third edition of the Seminar, which will be held in a hybrid mode (both onsite and online), will take place at the Museu de Belles Arts de València on April 12th, 13th and 14th, 2023.
