In 2017 the Association organized its First Meeting of Young Researchers in Religion Sciences willing to create a space for debate and exchange of ideas about the religious phenomenon. Four years later, we can assert that the interest in this topic has been consolidated in the Spanish academic field. Good proof of this is the future implementation during the 2021-2022 academic year of the first Degree in Religion Sciences of the Spanish university system, promoted by the Faculties of Philosophy, Philology and Geography and History of the Complutense University of Madrid, and by the University Institute of Religion Sciences. From the Association of Young Researchers in Religion Sciences (AJICR) we welcome this news with real enthusiasm and renewed conviction about the need to continue generating spaces for dialogue and reflection around the History of Religions. For this reason, we are pleased to announce the celebration of the III Meeting, internationally, which will take place in a semi-presence way on October 13, 14 and 15, 2021 in the Hall of Acts of the Faculty of Philology (Building D) of the Complutense University of Madrid.
The Meeting, following the trajectory of previous years, will accept proposals from a wide variety of scientific disciplines to foster a dialogue not only multidisciplinary, but also interdisciplinary and cross-cutting. Synergies’ creation is a fundamental aspect for understanding the polyhedric realities that constitute the different religions, both past and present. Different looks that arise from Iconography and Iconology, historical studies or Literature, to Anthropology, Cultural studies or Philosophy. But also, from the materiality of religions, their soundscapes, political approaches or the History of Art. All of them are essential tiles for the formation of this mosaic which is the study of religions. The ultimate purpose of our Meeting is to provide a scientific space for debate on certain aspects of the religious phenomenon that are not always the subject of research in standardized studies of Religion Sciences.
Those interested in submitting unreleased proposals must complete the form and send via email to this email address (contacto.ejicr@gmail.com). Deadline for filing registrations is July 20, 2021.
