From the Asociación de Jóvenes Investigadores en Ciencias de las Religiones (Association of Young Researchers in Religion Sciences) we resume our activities with the First International Conference under the title “Sex, Religions and Beliefs”.
Sexuality as a means of expression of the religious phenomenon, intimately linked to numerous belief systems, has developed a great interest in the intellectual field. However, while in recent years some academic disciplines have addressed this issue, from the particular approach of the Sciences of Religions, new and much broader looks can be created.
This approach helps to fully understand the evolution of certain iconographic themes linked to the representation of sexuality, or how sexuality encodes some specific liturgies and ritual practices, escaping from the Eurocentric vision enjoyed by both phenomena. Sciences of Religions can also present a queer look or analyze how sexual freedom affects the process of secularization in postmodern societies.
As usual, the development of the I International AJICR Conference on Sex, Religions and Beliefs is articulated through various panels where different areas of knowledge will be accommodated: literature, art, philosophy, anthropology, history, gender studies, etc. The First AJICR International Conference will take place at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) in the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Philology (Building D) on April 13, 14 and 15, 2021 and can be followed telematically, so distance won’t be an impediment to participate.
For the submission of unpublished proposals, the Model created for this task must be completed (Maximum 3-4 pages. Available here) by February 24, 2021 and sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Official Congress languages are spanish, english, italian and french. Proposals should be attached to one of the proposed thematic lines:

AJICR’s main objective in our events is to be able to complete certain aspects of the religious phenomenon that can rarely be dealt with in standardized studies in this field. The CfP can be downloaded in PDF here.
